Probate typically starts with a one-hour, $400 consultation, which once paid is credited towards the total billing for your file.

Then, assuming there are no disagreements among the interested parties, no additional legal fees are payable until probate grants access to the funds of the estate.

Our approach is built for speed, efficiency, and the collegial resolution of any disputes.

  • We proceed right away with probate matters that don't involve a disagreement or "fight".

  • If there is a disagreement among the parties, we attempt a negotiated outcome, at extra cost.

  • If negotiation does not resolve the disagreement, we can bring in a mediator, at extra cost.

  • If one or all parties would rather go to court to have a judge decide, we refer the matter out to estate litigators.
Here is a sampling of our fees:

  • Probate Consultation: $400

  • Estate Planning (Will Drafting) Consultation: $400

  • Probate and Related Legal Services: $15,000 (less prepaid consultation fee)

  • Negotiations in Support of Probate: $1,000 (applies for disagreements among parties)

  • Estate Executorship: 5% of the value of the estate (less prepaid consultation fee)

  • Trusts: from $5000 (less prepaid consultation fee)

  • Guardianship Application: $15,000 (less prepaid consultation fee)

  • Single - Will and Powers of Attorney: $750 (less prepaid consultation fee)

  • Couple - Wills and Powers of Attorney: $1400 (less prepaid consultation fee)

  • Business Owner - Dual Will and Powers of Attorney: $1600 (less prepaid consultation fee)

Any federal and provincial sales taxes (HST, PST, etc) are additional.
